1 Year Later....Haiti
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the tragic earthquake that demolished Haiti and its people last January. Women, men, and children were killed, injured, and ALOT were left homeless. Some people could'nt even find their loved ones or friends. People were found under large sediments of rocks, and some were even buried alive. Children's hospitals collasped as well. Money, gas, food, and healthcare are very scarce right now in Haiti. I watched BET news today and saw Wyclef Jean report that over 200,000 people were still living in tents. That's such a sad and pathetic thing to hear. While most of us complain about the basics, ie: not having enough money to go out, stressing over school, and being just angry at the world for no apparent reason, some people really need help which shows myself and alot of people that we have no right to complain about anything. Those kids in Haiti would do anything for shelter, hot meal, and clothes.
Lately, I've seen young people on TV that live everyday as a struggle. Some are homeless or physically impaired. It's something about those people that inspire me and make me feel shameful about complaining. Even though alot of people struggle or don't have much, alot of them stay positive and know a brighter day will come. Note to self: Be grateful and give! I'm going to attempt to donate money or clothes to a non profit organization that works with Haiti Relief project, and hopefully more young people especially college students get involved.
