I feel only slightly guilty for not purchasing J. Cole's new album. After hearing his radio hits "Work Out" and "Can't get Enough,"I was turned off. The J. Cole that I fell in love with was real, inspiring, and modest, but we all know how fame & the struggle for fame can change an artist. I mean, he's still very talented and he still spits fire, but at this rate, I'm more satisfied with his mixtapes. The New York Times published an article about the new online/mixtape music market, that allows fans to follow artists before debut albums, which sometimes reflect a "reformed and remolded" artist. The
article focused on J. Cole, and all that I could do was agree to the sad truth.
"And could I be a star? Does fame in this game have to change who you are? Could I be the same one who came from a far away life just to make it in these Broadway lights?" - J.Cole
